Russ has now taken delivery of his Brand new Ford Fiesta. After his first full day of lessons all his pupils gave it a massive thumbs up and they can't wait to drive it again.

Russ today had his 500th Test Pass. Thanks to Nathan Perrin from Marchwood and all the other 499 successful candidates for making this milestone possible. He is now aiming towards the 1000 target We are sorry to announce that Terry has now left Diamond Drive to pursue an alternative career. We would like to wish him well and Thank him for his many years of loyal service. Russ is more than happy to carry out any lessons in Terry's old area which is The Waterside Russ has now returned to work after his Paternity leave. His daughter Amelia Rose was born weighing in at 7lb 2oz on 7th November 2008. Mother and Amelia are both doing well. Due to the ever increasing fuel prices we have had to slightly increase the price of some of our lessons. The ten hour Block booking now costs £190 which still works out at a very competitive £19.00 per hour. Our Motorway lessons have also increased by £1 per hour. We are sorry to announce that due to a Career change Shirley has now left Diamond Drive. We wish her the very best of luck. As from July 1st 2007 we wish to inform all pupils that to ensure we comply with the new laws with regards to smoking, all of the Diamond Drive vehicles will be smoke free zones as the cars are classed as enclosed working places.
Therefore smoking is strictly forbidden in any of our vehicles. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

The Theory Test Questions are increasing for the Car and Motorcycle theory test from 3rd September 2007. The questions, currently 35 will increase to 50. The pass mark will be 43 and the time allowed to complete the test is 57 minutes. A new fee of £28.50 is also included.

ABOUT US
Brief History Diamond Drive began 10 years ago and has been expanding ever since. The partners of the company are Russ Baker and Lisa Dockree who are brother and sister. Lisa qualified to be a Driving Instructor in 1994 and worked for a local driving school. While she was working she also had the task of training Russ to qualify as an Instructor - Russ qualified in October 1995 and they then decided to set up a company between them and they settled upon the name of "Diamond Drive".
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How many lessons does it take to Pass the Driving Test ? This is a very difficult question to answer because everybody is different and they learn at different rates. The DSA recommend that the most successful Driving Test candidates have had an average of 40 hours of tuition with an Approved Driving Instructor and plenty of private practice. Diamond Drive instructors are very experienced at advising clients when it is best to apply for the practical test and we frequently carry out Mock driving tests so you will know what to expect and the progress you are making.
Do I have to pass the Theory Test before I start my lessons? No. You can start your driving lessons as soon as you have your Provisional Driving Licence. Your instructor will fully prepare you for the Theory test and will advise you as to when to apply for it. Having said that many people do take and pass the Theory before they start the lessons, but experience shows, once people do start driving it does heighten the chances of passing 1st time. Will the car that I'm learning to drive in be fitted with dual controls? Yes. All the Diamond Drive Tuition Vehicles are fitted with a dual control clutch and brake for your safety and reassurance. Do you do intensive driving courses? As a general rule we do not offer fully intensive courses (i.e. learn to drive in a week) as the pass rate for these courses can be lower. The most lessons we would advise to have would be 2 hours a day 2-3 times a week. I am very nervous will my Instructor take this into consideration? Most people are nervous when they start learning to drive. Our Instructors are trained to a high standard and extremely used to dealing with nervous pupils. Your Instructor will offer you reassurance and advice throughout the whole course. Where will I be taken for my 1st driving lesson? Diamond Drive Instructors are highly skilled in choosing very quiet and suitable locations for complete beginners and will not take you on to unsuitable roads if you are not ready. Can I get picked up and dropped off at different locations ? It is normally acceptable to do this but please give your Instructor plenty of notice so that they can plan their day around you. Do all lessons have to be one hour? No. We can do one and a half hour or two hour lessons. Do you do lessons in Automatic cars ? No Sorry. Unfortunately we don't offer lessons in Automatic cars at the moment but are very keen to hear from any Driving Instructors who do teach in these vehicles who may be interested in joining the company. Is it true that the Government are going to raise the age of driving from 17 year olds to 18 year olds ? This rumour has been going on for years and there is no truth in it at all. If it is going to happen ,which is very unlikely ,then it will be major Headline news and you would hear about it. What cars do your instructors teach in ? We have a variety of modern cars all fitted with Dual Controls What car will I take my Driving Test in? You will take the test in the car that you learn to drive in except in the extreme case of mechanical breakdown. If this occurs Diamond Drive will aim to supply a replacement vehicle. Can my Instructor sit in the back of my car during my Driving Test ? At Diamond Drive we actively encourage all our instructors to sit in the back of as many tests as possible because it quite often makes the candidates a lot less nervous.
